With light jet point to point service more small airport improvements needed?

With thousands of small municipal airports out there in need of modernization do you think the government will provide funding for improvments if VLJ service catches on in a big way? WAAS approaches for every airport?

VLJ/airtaxis may catch on in areas without IFR weather most of days of the year. Waas approaches will be numerous, if not everywhere. The airtaxi, it would seem, cannot be profitable using two pilots, unless the FO is paid pennies.

Will the business traveler be comfortable with a single pilot operation? Stay tuned.

Yes, it will require some upgrades but I think it will be the cities that currently see scheduled regional airline service... This way, the taxi companies will know that there is a market there... and the selling point for the air taxt service will be that you do not have to connect... if you fly with an airline, out of a regional airport, most of the time you will be connecting...

Nope. In fact, the government turned over the ops of FSS to a private company. Don't think they'll be spending money to improve airports to handle VLJ's.

My home airport is fully capable of handling VLJ's or other jets, and it's in Class G airspace, uncontrolled, no tower.

Course, that's one of the reasons I like it, is because it is the way it is...
