I use my computer to write papers for college (word documents) which I always save to my external hard drive, and for e-mail and very, very light internet research (i.e. google searches, occasionally opening PDF files and Facebook checking). I am also a frequent WiFi cafe visitor. That is all; no photos, no video, no games, etc. I have never installed anything apart from Word and PowerPoint onto a computer as I've never needed anything else!
Here are the specifications of the computer I'm looking at:
600 mhz G3 processor
256MB memory
Apple Operating system X 10.4
AirPort wireless card installed and 56k modem built-in
I am basically wondering if this computer is worth $300.00 or not, and if so, does it have everything on it that I would need?
Thanks for any help you can provide!!!
Not worth it to me. It'll be a bit slow, but work.
Be worth more like 100-150$.
Ideally up that memory to 512meg.
You could dual-boot it w/OS 9 (sans WiFi) and actually work off that. Despite the bagging on how old 9 is, it's solid. Gave one to my parents as a 2nd comp and it rocks for them.
EDIT: You'd need something like OpenOffice (free) for MS Word Docs.
I have one right in fron t of me there Very good and i was surprised. Its a bit slow with Virtual games (Toontown, Puzlling pirates, ect) But other than that its a very good ocmputer. But i have a sort of better model. mines 800MGhz and 640mb RAM. Also about your word documents. the IBook DOESNT have them originally on the Computer. You need to buy the Apple works package on the site or atleast borrow it from someone else that has a comfirmations code+cd. Enjoy!
yeah i think it'd be good for you.
i dont have one but from your remarks i think so.
